What You Can Expect
1. Complimentary Initial Phone Consultation:
When you call my office for your 15 minute phone consultation, at no cost to you, you will be contacted within 24 hours, if not immediately, to arrange a time convenient time for you. When I call, I will ask you to give a brief outline of what your concerns or problems are. I will talk with you and tell you how I anticipate working with you. From our conversation, you will get a better sense of who I am, and I can get a sense of whether I can be of benefit to you or not.
If we decide it’s beneficial to work together, we will book the initial session. If you have email, I will send you our office policies, so you can have plenty of time to review them before your first visit. If you have any questions, you can call prior to your first appointment.
Ask me about video conferencing sessions.
2. First Session:
We will schedule a 1 1/2 hour initial session. We will take a thorough and careful look at the areas of your life patterns that are causing you concern and identify the outcomes you desire. You will get a clear sense of how we can work together.
During this first session, my clients usually experience insights into their patterns, and many experience some change in their behavior immediately. My clients also report feeling hopeful about creating healthier patterns in their lives or relationships after this first session!
Together we will decide a course of action for future counseling work, and we’ll book additional sessions at that time. I will also provide you with referrals or resources that may assist you further in seeking the outcomes you want.
3. Subsequent Sessions:
Subsequent sessions may vary from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on what you and I decide would best fit your counseling needs and goals, your budget and your schedule. For instance, you might want a 30 minute session to determine if your thoughts about a specific situation are sound. You may choose an 90 minute session to learn self hypnosis or guided imagery to help explore a troubling habit and change it.
You may schedule your appointments one at a time. Or you can book several sessions at once. By reserving a time that seems to best fit your schedule, you really make the commitment to meeting your goals.
When you come to subsequent sessions, we will quickly attend to any of the business aspects, such as appointment times and paying fees (check, cash, credit card.) Then I will work actively with you to reach your goals by helping you to learn to identify what the healthy choices are in the areas of your life that most concern you.
If you are coming in for relationship issues, this might mean learning how to have healthy connections in all types of relationships, including intimate ones.
4. Between Sessions
Between sessions you can send short emails or have brief phone consultations for lightening discussions about something that might have just happened relative to your work with me.
Most importantly, my aim in therapy is to get you to a greater level of self awareness in order to enhance and increase your ability to meet your goals for all areas of life including love and happiness.
Call or email today to arrange up your complimentary 10-minute telephone consultation. While this will be a consultation and not an actual therapy session, we can briefly discuss your issues and concerns and explore how I might be able to help you resolve them.
